Volunteer Opportunity: Operations Coordinator / Chief of Staff Organization: Haitian Institute for Human Rights & Protection — HIHRP Location: Connecticut — Candidates must reside in New Haven, Hartford, Hamden, Norwich, or New London / Remote Position Type: Volunteer, Unpaid Time Commitment: 2–3 hours per day Reports To: President & CEO The Haitian Institute for Human Rights & Protection (HIHRP) is seeking a dedicated and highly organized Operations Coordinator / Chief of Staff to support the development and strengthening of our internal operations. HIHRP is committed to defending human dignity through advocacy, education, and direct support for Haitian, immigrant, and vulnerable communities. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to work closely with leadership and contribute to building a structured, effective, and mission-driven organization. As Operations Coordinator / Chief of Staff, you will play a central role in translating vision into action, supporting accountability, and ensuring that organizational priorities move forward efficiently. Key Responsibilities: Support the President & CEO with daily organizational coordination. Track projects, deadlines, assignments, and follow-up items. Prepare meeting agendas, notes, and action steps. Maintain internal documents, folders, and task tracking systems. Follow up with team members regarding assigned responsibilities. Facilitate coordination across programs, fundraising, outreach, finance, and communications. Identify operational gaps and recommend improvements. Prepare weekly or biweekly internal updates. Qualifications: Strong organizational and communication skills. Reliable, professional, and detail-oriented. Proficiency with Google Docs, Google Drive, spreadsheets, email, and basic online tools. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Experience in administration, project management, nonprofit operations, or coordination is preferred but not required.
