Habitat for Humanity — Greater New Haven

Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven has helped more than 200 local families achieve affordable homeownership since 1987. The organization builds and rehabilitates homes in New Haven, Hamden, West Haven, and surrounding towns, then sells them to qualified families with affordable mortgages.

Future homeowners partner with Habitat by contributing hundreds of hours of 'sweat equity' — working on their own home and others' — alongside community volunteers. The organization also operates a ReStore that sells donated home goods and building materials to fund its mission.

Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome on build sites, where trained supervisors provide all the guidance and tools needed.
