Connecticut River Conservancy

The Connecticut River Conservancy has protected the Connecticut River — New England's longest — for more than 70 years. The organization works across four states to restore the river's health, from its headwaters in northern New Hampshire down to Long Island Sound.

Its programs include removing obsolete dams to restore fish passage, planting streamside buffers, cleaning up trash through the annual Source to Sea Cleanup, and advocating for clean-water policy. The river corridor is home to more than 700 species of wildlife that depend on the Conservancy's restoration work.

Volunteers join restoration crews to remove invasive species, plant natives, and maintain public river-access trails.
